Vice-rector presents study on science, technology and innovation policy in DR


SANTO DOMINGO. The Vice Chancellor of Research and Liaison of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), doctor Víctor Gómez Valenzuela, presented the conference "Policy mix for innovation policy in the Dominican Republic: An attempt using Conjoint Analysis", During the Atlanta International Conference on Science Policy and Innovation, recently celebrated in that city of the United States.

The presentation collected the results of a comparative approach, an investigation sponsored by INTEC on the "Rationalities of the Public Policies of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Dominican Republic".  In this project they are Co-Investigators the doctors Henry Rosa of the INTEC Business and Economy Area, and Anne Sophie Tejeda, as an associate researcher. The results presented at the conference are part of the first scientific article of the aforementioned research project.   

During your presentation, Gomez Valenzuela stated that one of the objectives of the study was to explore the possibility of creating combinations of public policies to develop innovation in the country. In that order, he said that one of the conclusions reached by the investigative team in its investigations is that the local businesses prefer that policy mix be in the incentive order that provide financing options for specific innovation activities, business-university collaboration, technological infrastructure and the exchange of acquisition knowledge.

The conference was held under the auspices of the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy. It is one of the tmost prestigious res internationally in the field of science, technology and innovation studies, together with that organized by GLOBELICS (Global Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems) and the one organized by the European Forum for Research and Innovation Policy Studies (EU-SPRI)

This conference is held every two years and brings together the most recognized international specialists in this field of study. This year the conference was held with a representation of 29 countries, from Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America. For Latin America, the results of research projects from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico and the Dominican Republic were presented. This is the second time that INTEC is represented in this conference on technology and innovation by Dr. Víctor Gómez Valenzuela, the previous one was 2015.
