Dean of the INTEC Economy and Business Area is appointed


SANTO DOMINGO. -The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) appointed the teacher Manuel Pena Jimenez as dean of the Economy and Business Area for period 2023-2026, a position he held on an interim basis since January 2022.

In a statement sent to the entire university community, it is indicated that the Rector's Office made the decision based on the Regulations for the Selection and Appointment of the Dean or Dean of the Academic Area, and after receiving the minutes of the process and presentation of the shortlist, in accordance with the Assembly of the Economy and Business Area, held on Thursday, March 2.

Peña Jiménez has a degree in Marketing, graduated from the APEC University, with a master's degree in Management and Productivity from that university and in Education Science, from the University of Camaguey, Cuba. Additionally, he has a specialty in High Business Management, from the APEC University.

His academic experience is more than 30 years. He started as an associate professor at the APEC University in 1990 and has been a graduate and postgraduate teacher at that academy, as well as at INTEC, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the Central University of the East (UCE). He has been General Coordinator of Postgraduate and Continuing Education at the Dominican-American University, and Head of Studies at the Superior Center of Mediterranean Hospitality, Spain. In addition, he has worked as Head of the Admissions Technical Unit of the APEC University.

At INTEC he has been a teacher in the Economics and Business Area since 2017, serving as coordinator of the International Business degree and as a contracted professor and student advisor.

Also, he has diverse experience in financial work as Agency Manager for the Popular Association of Savings and Loans (APAP), and Manager of Savings and Credits of the Cooperative of the Flour Industry.

The INTEC Economics and Business Area reports to the Academic Vice Rector and its head is a member of the Academic Council and the university strategic management team. The appointment of the new dean is effective for a period of three years, extendable for two consecutive periods depending on the results of his management.
