Some 16 intecianos make mobility scholarships for Canada


SANTO DOMINGO.- The Emerging Leaders of the Americas Program (ELAP, for its acronym in English), offered by the Canadian government for the fourth consecutive year in the country, chose 16 intecianos to study four months in universities in that country.

Through the Student Mobility office, which manages the Student Services Division of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), students will study a series of subjects of their choice, which will be validated as part of their career, in an experience that combines high level teaching with cultural exchange.

The winners they shared with Georges Boissé, Ambassador of Canada in the Dominican Republic, who dismissed the students of the different universities that participated.

The chosen ones of the INTEC were:

  •           Yabir Canario, Software Engineer
  •           Miguel Encarnación, Software Engineer
  •           Katherine Peña, Civil Engineer
  •           Arianna Vargas, Industrial Engineer
  •           Fernando Tejeda, Industrial Engineer
  •           Alejandro de Jesús, Industrial Engineer
  •           Lyanne Fermín, Industrial Engineer
  •           María José Banks, Economy
  •           Pedro José Amorós, Mathematics
  •           Ricardo Gómez, Industrial Engineer
  •           Kimbertlin Rodríguez Guzmán, Business Administration
  •           Genaro José Desantis, Industrial Design
  •           Gabriela Ascuaciati, Industrial Design
  •           Gabriela Josefina Coste, Industrial Engineer

The Canadian institutions that will receive this group of scholars are Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Vancouver Island University, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, University of Saskatchewan, Niagara College, University of Regina, Kings University College at UWO, University of New Brunswick, Université de Québec à Montreal, St Mary's University and College of the Rockies.

INTEC has agreements with more than 200 universities and institutions in hundreds of countries, which facilitate students to take quarters in the exchange modality to enrich their academic experience.

Through this service, students from other countries can also come to INTEC to attend trimesters, which increasingly attracts university students from the United States and Europe.

So far, approximately 70 students of different INTEC careers have made mobility in universities in the United States, Costa Rica, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Puerto Rico, where they have had the opportunity to know other teaching systems, colleagues from other countries and the whole cultural experience of traveling.

María Luisa Ferrand, coordinator of Student Mobility indicates that the main personal and professional benefits of having this type of experience are that it complements the integral formation, through diverse academic scenarios and the multicultural experience; interaction with other cultures; broadens your vision of education and the global professional and gives more weight to your CV and job preparation.
