A visit to strengthen ties of cooperation

The director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) expressed his interest in visiting the University campus in the coming weeks to learn about its initiatives in research and search for solutions to the problems caused by sargassum.

Santo Domingo. - El Rector of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Julio Sanchez Marinez, he made a visit courtesy to Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Joonsung Park, with the aim of establishing relationships to cooperation projects which runs the institution with the support of the Korean government. 

During the visit, the Rector of INTEC highlighted the main achievements and projects of the university in its 51st anniversary, and presented the Institutional Strategic Plan 2023-2027, which displays the commitment to the future of the academy. Sánchez Maríñez thanked the assessment of INTEC expressed by Park, who considered it an institution of excellence and expressed his interest in deepening cooperative relations with KOICA and receiving its support to also have rapprochement with Korean universities, especially those of a technological nature.

The rector of INTEC expressed his interest in taking advantage of the training opportunities in South Korea through stays of exchange or scholarships for formal studies, for the benefit of the university's academic community.

Meanwhile, the Country Director of KOICA highlighted his country's interest in supporting various issues such as: the development of technical labor skills to promote the development of women; search for solutions to Sargassum issues, including, among other areas, satellite monitoring, solutions to its collection and research on derived uses.

The Rector invited the KOICA directors to a visit to the INTEC campus, which was accepted by them to be scheduled in the next academic quarter February - April 2024.

In addition to the Director of Koica, the rector of INTEC was received by Hyeonhan Kang, Deputy Country Director of KOICA, Dong-gyu Lee, Project Consultant, and Senior Project Specialist, Nathaly Ramírez Marzán. Meanwhile, the rector was accompanied by the Director of Strategic Relations, Katherine Acosta.
