A space for beginner teachers


During the 6, 7 and 8 days in June, the V International Congress on Beginning Teaching Staff and Teaching Induction, a meeting place for trainers and researchers who are concerned about knowing and improving the induction processes of teachers who start their career.

The event is held every two years and is supported by the Beginner Teacher Network. Participants include researchers from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Portugal and the Dominican Republic.

Throughout this Congress 83 researches were presented, developed in different countries. Among the speakers are Christine Sleeter (United States), Gloria Calvo (Colombia), Gloria Inostroza (Chile), Joana Romanowsky (Brazil), Héctor Jacobo (Mexico) and Carlos Marcelo (Spain).

One of the aspects that has been highlighted and valued has been the INDUCTIO Program, which INAFOCAM has developed throughout this academic year, in strategic alliance with the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), through the Center for Innovation in Higher Education (CINNES), and the IDEA Group of the University of Seville. This program has been valued as innovative and successful, contrasted by the works presented by mentors and managers of the training program.

The congress, fruit of the strategic alliance of the INTEC and the University of Seville, had the support of the National Institute of Education and Training of the Magisterium (INAFOCAM) and the office of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) of the Dominican Republic. It was held at the Hotel Live Hamaca in Boca Chica.

The event was headed by Saturnino De los Santos, Vice Minister of Education, Head of the Office of Certification and Development of the Ministry's Teaching Career, Catalina Andújar, Director of the Office of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) in the country, Denia Burgos, Executive Director of INAFOCAM and Rolando Guzmán, rector of INTEC.

Also present were Carlos Marcello, Ggeneral coordinator of the congress and the Inductio program, Juan Francisco Jáspez, pedagogical advisor of INAFOCAM, and Macarena Rojas Flores, representative of the Ministry of Education of Chile.
