INTEC and ODCI convene a webinar on the impact of COVID-19 on exports of goods and services

SANTO DOMINGO -The Dominican Observatory of International Trade (ODCI) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) will analyze the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on exports of goods and services, foreign exchange generating activities and their prospects for recovery in the short and medium term.

The activity will be open to the public and will be broadcast live on Friday 19 at 11:00 a.m. on the INTEC YouTube channel (@INTECrd), which can be accessed through this link https://youtu.be/IlGU0P0Nnf0

In the virtual meeting "After COVID-19: recovering exports and the generation of foreign currency", representatives of various unions of foreign exchange generating activities (tourism, free zones, national exports and foreign direct investment) will an examination of the impact of the crisis caused by the pandemic and a prospective view of its restoration, of the factors that will condition it and of the contributions that public policies could make.

The panel will be made up of Andrés Marranzini, Executive Vice President of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (Asonahores); José Manuel Torres, Executive Vice President of the Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona); Luís Concepción, President of the Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo); Edwin De los Santos, President of the Association of Foreign Investment Companies (ASIEX) and Hugo Rivera, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).

This would be the eighth webinar held by INTEC to analyze the possible effects that the pandemic will have on the productive sectors and on society. Some of the topics that have been addressed are the impact of COVID-19 on the health sector, national economic aspects of the pandemic, impact on primary education, challenges of COVID-19 for mental health and the organization of elections next July 5.
