INTEC recognizes the career of maestro José Antonio Molina
SANTO DOMINGO. On the occasion of commemorating this November 22 on International Musician Day, the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) celebrated the XIX edition of the program “A day with the author and his work”, to recognize the trajectory and cultural contributions of the teacher José Antonio Molina.
The tribute was led by students from four schools in the country, who recognized the trajectory of Molina and staged some of its main moments through the staging of different artistic manifestations.
The ceremony, which took place in the Sala Ravelo de la Fuente, was attended by the rector of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzmán; the coordinator of the program, Carlos Enrique Cabrera and the dean of the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities, Migdalia Martínez. The honored artist José Antonio Molina, attended in the company of his parents Ramón Antonio Molina Pacheco "Papa Molina" and Doña Josefina Miniño, his wife Carolina de Molina, their three children and other relatives and friends.
The activity began with the presentation "José Antonio Molina: The great human being", in charge of a group of students of the Santa Teresita School and continued with the participation of Babeque Secondary school students who staged the play "The World in a tambora. "
The act of homage continued with the presentation of the musical "The sound of my land" by students of the Triumphare school, and the work "Buscando a Molina" by the students of the Lux Mundi Educational Community.
Later, Mr. José Andrés Vidal Hernández, teacher Julio de Windt Pichardo and also teacher Emigdio de Jesús Caonex Peguero Camilo headed the panel "Three voices, three visions", in which they shared their impressions of the musician, professional and human being José Antonio Molina. Finally, Master Molina He gave a few words of thanks for the award received.

Master in the great stages of the world
José Antonio Molina (Santo Domingo; 4 of July 1960). He studied piano at the National Conservatory of Music and at 1980 he moved to New York, where he did a bachelor's and master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music, while studying orchestral direction and composition at the Julliard School of Music.
His debut as an orchestra conductor was at the head of the Symphony Orchestra of Maracaibo (Venezuela), later presenting as guest conductor in Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Mexico, Cuba, Spain, England, France, Italy and China.
He is the first Dominican named head conductor of an orchestra in the United States, the Greater Palm Beach Symphony Orchestra.
In 1995 he addressed Gloria Estefan in the Vatican on the occasion of the 50 anniversary of the priestly ordination of Pope John Paul II. From 1996, Molina was director and main arranger of the Pavarotti and Friends concert, sharing stage with figures like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Eric Clapton, Natalie Cole, Tom Jones, Barry White, Mariah Carey, George Michael, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo and Sting, among many others.
He was appointed Cultural Ambassador of the Dominican Republic (1996); decorated with the order of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella (2001); and the Honoris Causa doctorate from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (2008) and Pedro Henríquez Ureña (2009). This last year he was appointed head of the National Symphony Orchestra.
