INTEC celebrates with its friends the accreditation of its Medicine career


SANTO DOMINGO. - In an intimate and camaraderie atmosphere, the authorities of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) celebrated, together officials of the ministries de Higher education, Science and Technology and Public HealthAs well as academic directors and several hospitals of the country, that the career ofMedicine from that university he received the international accreditation of the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

The rays of the sun that penetrated the Activities room of the Health Sciences Building, Ana Mercedes Henríquez, from where you can see the vertiginous growth of the city center, gave a special touch to the breakfast organized to thank the support that public and private institutions gave INTEC to obtain an accreditation from a body endorsed by World Federation for Medical Education.

“Each of you has had a special role in a long process that has led us to the ENAC accreditation of our medical training program. We wanted to share this moment with you to thank the collaboration that different institutions have had throughout the process, ”said the rector of the INTEC, Rolando M. Guzman, when greeting those present. 

Guzmán stressed that ENAC accreditation for the Medicine School of INTEC should constitute the first step a accreditation process de other programs of training in the area in Dominican Republic, because from 2023 that medicine graduates wishing follow his studies in United States they must be graduates de career of Medicine internationally accredited.

La minister Higher Education Science and Technology, Alejandrina Germán, emphasized that ENAC accreditation of the teaching programs is a demand that becomes more and more urgent because in the XXI century the internationalization of higher education is demanded in an urgent manner.

“That INTEC has assumed the international accreditation of the Medicine career seems to me an important fact for it to serve as an example to other universities in the country so that Dominican doctors can go with pride, efficiency and ability to practice their careers outside the country or to continue a study of specialization or medical residencies, "said the minister.

The activity was attended by INTEC, José Feliz Marrero, Academic Vice-Rector of INTEC; Raymundo Jiménez, dean of the Health Sciences Area; Fernando Santamaría, coordinator of the degree in Medicine; Alba Henríquez, director of Accreditation and Evaluation and the students Orlando Camacho, president and Priscila Sepúlveda, former president of CEMED.

Also present was Ligia Amada Melo, advisor to the Executive Power for Higher Education; Plácido Gómez, Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology; Doctors Jorge Marte Báez, medical director of the Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine Diagnostic Center (CEDIMAT); Roberto Nina from the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces; Manuel Colomé, from the Hugo Mendoza Pediatric Hospital and Giovanni Báez, medical director of the National Cancer Institute (INCART).

Among the guests were Dr. Mercedes Rodríguez, director of the National Health Insurance (SENASA), Mr. Hernán Rodríguez González, PAHO / WHO Health Systems and Services advisor; Dr. Ángel Hernández, rector of the Open University for Adults (UAPA) and president of the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU); among other personalities.
