INTEC thanks companies that collaborate with the PIES


Santo Domingo. El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), through its Directorate of Development and Institutional Relations, held a meeting with members of the business sector and graduates of the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES), to thank them for their support and collaboration with this scholarship program, which each Year allows approximately 100 outstanding young people to have their studies at INTEC guaranteed, regardless of their social status.

Some 13 companies currently support the PIES scholarship program, a pioneer from 1987 in recognizing the student talent of the Dominican Republic as an INTEC social responsibility action and commitment to academic excellence. In its 25 years, the program has benefited some young 1,433 scholarships and has awarded recognition to more than two thousand students, who have stood out for their high academic rates throughout the baccalaureate.

The act was led by Julio Molina, president of the Association of Graduates (ADE) of the university, who stressed the importance of the companies, public institutions and non-governmental organizations that donate to the program also join the professionals graduated from INTEC .

Molina invited those present to participate on Sunday 14 April on the walk "Steps for FEET", to be held in the Botanical Garden to benefit the PIES Program and also referred to the campaign "Pass it for me", which allows small donations through credit cards, which are used exclusively for the scholarship program.

Krist Núñez, graduate of the PIES program and General Manager for the Dominican Republic of a multinational, was in charge of the central words of the meeting, where he stressed that "in life there are three pleasures: love, forgive and thank and, it is precisely for the latter I am here today thanking the opportunity that years ago I had the INTEC and Falconbridge Dominican Company, who at that time, were the sponsors of my professional career. He also stressed that having been a Fellow trainee opened the doors to other opportunities.

Núñez, awarded as Outstanding Graduate of INTEC 2011, also stated that it was reflected in the student PIES Licelot Pérez, future graduate of Industrial Engineering for April 2013, since he was in his position a long time ago and I also take this opportunity to thank especially those executives In charge of justifying the contribution to the PIES Program before the budgets of their company, since a sample was the result of the young people present there.

Among those attending the act of appreciation were Tammy Vásquez, from Claro and Lizzy Sánchez, from Fundación Brugal. Also present were representatives and executives of CEMEX Dominicana, the Central Bank, the PISSA industrial park, the Ministry of Youth, Fersan, the Popular Association of Savings and Loans and the San Pedro de Macorís Electricity Company.
To date, eight out of ten PIE students graduate with the highest academic honors.
