Guarocuya Félix and Jorge Marte Báez join the Board of Regents of INTEC


SANTO DOMINGO. Economist Guarocuya Félix and the pulmonologist Jorge Marte Báez were sworn in as new members of the Board of Regents of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), replacing Jaime David Fernández Mirabal and Franklin Báez Brugal, who completed the nine-year regulatory period as members of the governing body.

The ceremony, which was held in the Julio Ravelo Room of the Library Fountain Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi, was headed by the president of the Board of Regents, Ana María Ramos, who took the oath to the new members. Also attending the rector Rolando M. Guzmán, the remaining 13 members of the agency and several INTEC authorities.

Dr. Guarocuya Félix is ​​a graduate of INTEC with a degree in Economics and has doctoral studies in Economic Sciences from the University of Barcelona. The current Director General of Internal Taxes (DGII) has forged a career in public administration recognized for its integrity and professionalism in strategic institutions for the country. In 2012 INTEC granted him the recognition of Outstanding Graduate.

Felix has served as Superintendent of Securities, undersecretary of State Planning of the then Secretary of State for Economy, Planning and Development; National Director of the National Planning Office (ONAPLAN) of the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency, among other public positions.

In the academic field, he has been a professor at INTEC, where he directed and advised the Development unit; He was also coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Government and Public Policies of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Guest Professor of the Master in Cooperation and Development at the University of Barcelona, ​​and professor at other prestigious universities.

While Jorge Marte Báez is a pulmonologist, internist, intensivist and director of the MedicalNet Sleep Clinic, Grupo Neumosueño. He works as a medical specialist on the staff of the Abreu Clinic and head of the Department of Pulmonology and Sleep Disorders at the Corazones Unidos Clinic.

She graduated from Medicine at INTEC and did her specialty in Internal Medicine at the Hospital Salvador B. Gautier and in Critical Medicine and Intensive Care at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, La Habana, Cuba.

He was head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital (2002-2009), director-founder of the First Sleep Laboratory in the country (1998-2013) at the Corazones Unidos Clinic and director of the O&M University Project School of Medicine / Harvard Medical International (2006-2012).

Félix and Marte Báez complete the Board of Regents, which also includes Frank Rainieri, Freddy Wood, Miguel Gil Mejía, Manuel Corripio, Henry Molina Peña, Lidia Mercedes Hernández, Mary Fernández, José Luis de Ramón Picazo, George Manuel Blas González Canaán, Claudia de los Santos, Laura Acra Brache, Rolando M. Guzman and Ana Maria Ramos.
