Experts in university education and intellectual property will meet at INTEC


SANTO DOMINGO. He Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) will host the Third International Conference of the Industrial and Intellectual Property Network of Latin America (PILA) which will bring together representatives of universities, international organizations and intellectual property registration offices of at least 25 countries in Latin America and Europe.

The event, which will take place from 8 to 10 next July, will have as a central theme "Generating value from the knowledge transfer" and will exhaust an extensive program of conferences and panels of experts. The aim of the international conference is to bring together specialists and stakeholders in the field of innovation to discuss the main political and management challenges and share recent experiences on the registry of intellectual property as a tool of innovation and competitiveness for higher education institutions.

Some of the topics that will be addressed as part of the program are "Uses of the patent system and technological surveillance as a mechanism to add value to research" in which Dr. Dionisio Soldevila, renowned Dominican scientific researcher, will participate; Ana Urrecha from the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and Alexandra Lockward, director of the National Intellectual Property Office (ONAPI).

In the same way, the panel "Promoting regional convergence on IP policies and knowledge transfer strategies" will be made by Oswaldo Girones de la World Intellectual Property Organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland; Dario Solis, from the University Texas Tech University; Roberto Escarré of the University of Alicante, Spain and the research professor of INTEC, Victor Gómez Valenzuela. 

Among many other topics will be also "The commercialization of research from the University to the Market or from the Market to the University" by Raimundo Ubieta of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba; Luis Cárdenas of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Mexico and Paula Andrea Rivera of the EAFI UniversityT from Colombia.

The PILA Network is an organization that brings together representatives of universities and organizations with the aim of strengthening their cooperation on intellectual property and innovation.
