Specialized 50 teachers in science education for children


SANTO DOMINGO.- The Educational Studies Center of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (CEED-INTEC) celebrated the first graduation of the Small Scientists Program with the delivery of certificates to 28 teachers of the Basic and Middle levels, and other 22 for INTEC teachers trained as trainers.

The training, which began at 2013, is the product of an agreement between the INTEC, the PROPA-GAS Foundation and the University of Los Andes (UniAndes), of Colombia, to transform the teaching-learning practice of the natural sciences in the country.

The act of delivering certificates was chaired by the Rector of INTEC, Rolando Guzmán; the coordinator of CEED-INTEC, Héctor Martínez; the president of the PROPAGAS Foundation, Rosa Margarita Bonetti; the dean of the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities, Migdalia Martínez and the dean of the Area of ​​Basic and Environmental Sciences, Leticia Mendoza.

Also the coordinator of the Small Scientists UniAndes Program, Margarita Gómez, and the coordinator of the Small Dominican Republic Program, Izaskun Uzcanga. The ceremony was held in the auditorium Osvaldo García de la Concha of INTEC.

The teachers graduated from the Program belong to the Fray Ramón Pané Educational Center and the Lux Mundi Educational Community of Santo Domingo, and to the INTEC, in the case of the group trained as trainers. All culminated a training that specializes in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The Small Scientists Program is developed with high impact in 20 countries of Latin America and aims to involve children with science through observation, manipulation, experimentation, inquiry, confrontation and discussion of ideas from the first years of schooling.

Inauguration of Multimodal Resource Center for Learning (CREM)

After the delivery of certificates, the Multimodal Resource Center for Learning (CREM), attached to the CEED-INTEC, and located at the west end of the campus of that academy, was inaugurated.


Carmen Vargas, in charge of CREEM, explained that it is a space for experiential, playful, scientific and innovative learning for students, teachers, directors, counselors, parents and anyone interested in learning and teaching.

From the CREM flexible educational offers are designed for the management of significant learning, in person and at a distance, while having multimodal resources to support educational planning.
