Dean of Health Sciences is ratified for second term


SANTO DOMINGO. The Rectory of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) ratified in his functions the dean of the Health Sciences Area, orthopedic doctor Miguel Robiou Kranwinkel, so he will remain in office until 2024.

The ratification of Robiou Kranwinkel was announced by the Rector, Julio Sánchez Maríñez, by virtue of what is established in the Regulations for the Selection and Appointment of the Dean or Dean of the Area, which empowers the Rectory to decide on the ratification of the deans, prior evaluation of its management.

Robiou Kranwinkel's management in front of INTEC's Health Sciences Area has made the university visible in the health sector, with a dignified representation in various national and international forums and fostering strategic alliances that contribute to the achievement of institutional objectives.

Similarly, the leadership of the INTEC Health Sciences Area in handling the challenges of COVID-19 was positively evaluated, with the support in the design of the university's institutional preventive protocol that allowed the maintenance of teaching operations , including medical residencies and service to the institutional community.

The dean of Health Sciences of INTEC ldevised the implementation of improvements and changes in the laboratories, the advancement of telemedicine, as well as the use of technology for the implementation of the medical career. One of his highest achievements has been the assurance of compliance with the criteria and indicators of international accreditation of the Medicine career by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) (CAAM-HP), entity Regional accreditor recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), the only one in the country that has achieved it, and also that of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT).

Robiou affirmed that, facing his new period as dean, he will focus on promoting research in the Health Sciences Area, particularly on issues of high relevance for the country such as epidemiology, public health, bioethics and biomedicine. , in coordination with other academic areas.

Another aspect to emphasize, by the recently sworn president of the Dominican Association of Faculties and Schools of Medicine (Adofem), will be the development and deepening of international relations and ties with allies in the United States and Latin America, including our graduates, among other high impact initiatives.
