They train more than 300 teachers in Literacy and Education for Young People and Adults


Santo Domingo. 8 groups of “Diploma in Education for Young People and Adults” close, in which 335 teachers, technicians, directors of the first Cycle of Basic Education for Young People and Adults of MINERD and literacy teachers from Civil Society institutions participate.

The activity is carried out on Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (CEED-INTEC), under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD), through the National Institute for Teacher Training (INAFOCAM) and the General Directorate for Youth and Adult Education (DGEA).

The program lasted 120 classroom hours organized in seven modules, among which the theme of literacy and learning of young and adult people was prioritized, as a training and training experience that is expected to contribute to the development of the plans of training of literacy teachers in the framework of the National Literacy Plan, Quisqueya Aprende Contigo. 
Another aspect that was deepened was the construction of a Flexible Model for basic education as a curricular offer that will favor the educational continuity of the literate population and with an inconclusive basic level.

Within the framework of the activity, the pedagogue, linguist, educational journalist and social activist, Rosa María Torres, of Ecuadorian nationality, former Minister of Education, former Pedagogical Director, in her country, of the National Literacy Campaign has been invited "Monsignor Leonidas Proaño" (1988-2000). Among her professional duties, she has excelled as a researcher and international consultant in education, written culture and lifelong learning.

The certificate delivery ceremony took place this Friday November 30, in the Julio Ravelo Room of the INTEC Fountain, and was chaired by the Minister Josefina Pimentel, Minister of Education, along with the graduate Denia Burgos de Camacho, Director Executive of INAFOCAM; Ms. Miriam Camilo Recio, General Director of Youth and Adult Education. Pedro Luís Castellanos, Director of Special Programs of the Presidency of the Republic and Coordinator of the Technical Team Team of the National Literacy Plan, accompanied the development of the activity.

Representing INTEC were Dr. Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice Chancellor; Migdalia Martínez, Dean of the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities of INTEC and Mr. Héctor Martínez, Director of CEED-INTEC.
