Library receives part of the collection of Alfonso Lockward

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) received the donation of dozens of titles from the personal collection of the late preacher Alfonso Lockward, one of the founding members of the university.

The delivery was formalized by Mrs. Lina Column widow Lockward during a visit to the Rector of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzmán, and Lucero Arboleda, executive director of the Library. The meeting was held in the Sala Julio Ravelo de la Fuente.

The books address issues of international relations, constitutional history and Venezuelan culture, as well as Dominican religious culture. In addition, they include some copies of books authored by Lockward as "The Monroe Doctrine in Santo Domingo," "The Haitian-Dominican Constitution of 1843," "Document for the History of American-Dominican Relations," among others.

Mrs. Columna expressed her great satisfaction to deliver the books to the INTEC, institution to which her husband devoted many efforts, as he expressed. While Lucero Arboleda said that this type of contribution contributes to the policy of development of collections, within the framework of a philosophical model, which allows the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library, to offer access to information resources that complement or extend the curricular profile of INTEC.

"Donations allow us to enrich the offer of services and resources to the public," Arboleda said. Over the years, the Library has received bibliographic donations from personalities such as Miguel Angel Heredia, Eduardo Latorre, Emilio Rodriguez Demorizi, Francisco Comarazamy and Armando Hoepelman, among others.
