Three international doctors elevated to Masters of Dominican Medicine


SANTO DOMINGO. The doctors Yulino Castillo y Pedro Sing Urena, graduates of the career of Medicine of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), and Elijah Rosario Caceres, founder and first teacher of the Chair of Gynecology-Obstetrics from the University School of Medicine, received the recognition "Master of Dominican Medicine" that grants the Dominican Medical College (CMD). 

In the event that was held in the Dr. Manuel Durán Bracho room of the CMD, on the occasion of the National Doctor's Day, celebrated on August 18, the doctors were elevated to the category of Masters as a recognition of their contributions to academic knowledge and application of public policies in favor of the Dominican community.

Dr. Yulino Castillo

Dr. Yulino Castillo is internist y endocrinologist, graduated with honors from INTEC, with a specialty in Internal Medicine at the Doctor Salvador B. Gautier Hospital. He graduated as a specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, attached to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

From 1993 to date he has been a professor of Endocrinology at INTEC University and since 1995 he is coordinator of the Internal Medicine Area of ​​INTEC. For 20 years he has been a professor of Endocrinology at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). For 26 years, Dr. Castillo has served as professor and coordinator of the National Residence for Endocrinology and Nutrition (RENAREN).

He recently published his book "Diabetic Dyslipidemia", endorsed and edited by the Dominican Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SODENN), entity of which he was president.

Dr. Pedro Sing Urena

Dr. Pedro Sing is hematologist doctor also a graduate of INTEC. He studied Internal Medicine specialties at the Dr. Luis E. Aybar-UASD Hospital and Hematology at the Dr. Salvador B. Gautier Hospital.

He served as a teacher at the INTEC boarding school. He has been coordinator of the rotating internship at the UASD, professor of semiology, infectology and hematology. Sing is past president of the Dominican Medical College.

Dr. Elias Rosario Caceres

Es gynecologist trained in Mexico City, practicing at the Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia Maternity Hospital, later founded and directed the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Doctor Luis Eduardo Aybar Hospital.

He is a pioneer in human reproduction in the country, also founder and first teacher of the chair of Gynecology-Obstetrics at the INTEC School of Medicine.

Rosario founded the first private center dedicated to human reproduction, where she achieved the first “test tube baby” in the country. In 1992 she founded the Dominican Society of Human Reproduction.

August 18 marks the National Doctor's Day in the Dominican Republic, the date on which the Dominican Association of Medicine was founded, today the Dominican Medical College (CMD).
