First meeting of the "Dialogues Political Parties - Civil Society"


Santo Domingo. Last Thursday, September 20 was held in the sinstalaciones of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, INTEC the First Meeting of the "Political Party Dialogues - Civil Society", event sponsored by the Center for Governance and Social Management (CEGES-INTEC) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation-Dominican Republic.

Both institutions came together to present this permanent space for democratic dialogue in its aim of contributing to the formation of a new generation of political leaders and civil society. 

The objective of the meeting is to create a space for reflection and criticism at the service of the young political leadership that has participated in the Training and Political Management Program (organized under the Young Leaders Network), and those young graduates of the Change Agents Program run by the Friederich Ebert Foundation in the Dominican Republic. 

In this first activity entitled "Democracy ... What for?", The usefulness of democracy in the achievement of citizen well-being was debated. It had the intervention of Mr. Rafael Toribio (Director CEGES-INTEC), Mrs. Stefanie Hanke (Director Friedrich Ebert-RD) and Mr. Ramón Colombo (Communicator) who expressed their positions on the role of political parties and institutions of representation in the achievement of the democratic ideal. After these interventions, the debate was opened among the attendees.
