INTEC celebrates the 40 years of its foundation


Santo Domingo. El instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo INTEC, offered this Wednesday, October 31, a cocktail to formally close the month in which the 40th anniversary of its foundation in 1972 was commemorated.

The INTEC is the result of the work and effort of a group of committed young professionals who united their capacity, academic vocation and hard work in the service of Dominican society.

In the framework of the meeting, a special recognition was made to the past rectors of the university, initiated by the founder and first since the materialization of the INTEC project, the engineer Ramón Flores. He was followed:

 • Engineer Rafael Corominas, founder and rector between 1974 and 1976.

 • Mrs. Lina Arzeno de Latorre, representing the deceased Doctor Eduardo Latorre, founder and rector between 1976 and 1984.

• Mr. Rafael Toribio, member of the initial team and rector for two periods: from 1984 to 1990, and from 1993 to 2002.

• Engineer Rafael Marión Landais, founder and rector between 1990 and 1993. • Dr. Altagracia López, rector from 2002 to 2005.

• Doctor Miguel Escala, rector from 2005 to 201.

In his words, the current rector of INTEC, Dr. Rolando M. Guzmán said that the present of this academic institution has been forged in 40 years of history, which condenses the effort of a group of people motivated by the ideal of learning , teach, discover, contribute and grow. "Personally, I value as a great honor and a pleasant privilege this unique opportunity to shake hands with many to whom this university owes so much and whose efforts and efforts are all humble heirs" stressed Guzmán.

The activity that took place in the university square, also brought together members and former members of the Board of Regents of the institution, and the Academic Council, and founders, managers and teachers.

Representatives from the powers of the State, international organizations and civil society, as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country, and rectors and officials of the different universities of the country also met.
