Ing. Rafael Corominas Pepin

He was born in Santiago de los Caballeros on March 13, 1928, the son of Armando Corominas and Consuelo Pepín.

He became the father of five children whom he had together with his late wife, Ofelia Quezada, baptized as Mayra Consuelo, Luis Rafael, Rosa María, Máximo José and Pedro Miguel, who have given him 13 grandchildren.

He is a civil engineer and has carried out specialized studies in Spain, among others. He has been general superintendent of Aqueducts, professor at the Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), vice-president-founder of the newspaper El Sol and Banco Nacional, SA, president of the Dominican College of Engineers and Architects (CODIA) North regional, president of the Board of Regents of INTEC and secretary of Public Works during the president's term Antonio Guzman.

He founded the Dominican Society of Seismic Engineering and promulgated the Provisional Recommendations for Seismic Analysis of Buildings (RPAS).

The construction in Santiago of the Codetel, Avelino Abreu and El Embrujo Urbanization buildings, as well as the Ofelia Urbanization and the buildings: Corporación Corominas Pepín and Avelino Abréu in Santo Domingo, were works that were in his charge.

Corominas Pepín passed away on September 14, 2016.
