Regent of INTEC receives recognition for his contributions to ICTs

SANTO DOMINGO. The Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) recognized the contributions of Fabiola Herrera, member of the Board of Regents of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), for its contribution to national technological development as a driver of digital transformation.

The specialist received the distinction during the ninth award ceremony Index of Use of Information and Communication Technologies and Implementation of Electronic Government in the State (iTICge) 2022, in which public institutions are recognized, and which was headed by Pedro Quezada, general director of the OGTIC.

Herrera has a degree in Computer Science from the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), with specialized studies in Mathematics, Systems Analysis and Project Management. She works as Deputy Manager of Systems and Technological Innovation of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.

Along with the INTEC regent, Miguel Ceara Hatton, Bartolomé Pujals and Nelson Arroyo were also recognized for promoting the development of Digital Government from their organizations. Similarly, the projects were awarded Digital ProUser of the Superintendence of Banks; the Tourist Intelligence System, and the Central Unit for Tourist Procedures (UCTT) of the Ministry of Tourism; the development of DATACOMEX-RD, Fair Prices, RD Industries, RD Free Zone Data, Digital Check and the Creative Directory of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs; and the Online Apostille service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These were considered government initiatives that demonstrate the country's progress in terms of digitalization of services. 

In this edition of the iTICge award, the highest award was given to Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPYD), for showing during this year the highest score in the use, management and ICT controls, availability and development of services electronically and transparency, through the use of open data, social networks and e-participation, with a total score from 97.87.

La Board of Regents of INTEC It is the management body and legal representation of INTEC, as well as the legal administrator of its assets. It is made up of 15 members, who by statutory mandate must be mostly graduates.
