INTEC, Unik Radio and Dresses of Cordura celebrate radio marathon for International Safe Internet Day

The marathon radio will be broadcast by Unikradio.net and by INTEC Radio as parent stations, and a group of television stations and channels in the capital and the interior of the country

SANTO DOMINGO.- Under the slogan "A better Internet starts with you: together we learn cybersecurity" It is celebrated this Tuesday, February 11International Safe Internet, in the facilities of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).

The goal of this marathon radio, which started at 8:00 in the morning and will end at 8:00 at night, is promote el safe use, responsable y ethical of Internet, as well as the care of children and adolescents, before this platform, strengthening a digital citizenship.

The marathon radio will be broadcast by Unikradio.net and by INTEC Radio as parent stations, and a group of television stations and channels of the capital and the interior of the country that have joined to be part of this activity.

With this marathon radio the public efforts y Private that are made for the country to strengthen the healthy use of Internet, as well as the experiences of the different sectors regarding the advantages offered by the new technologies.

Claudia Rita Abreu, Director of Educational Informatics of the Ministry of Education, Orlando Santos (both producers of Cordura Dresses) and Mariela Guerrero they celebrate the initiative since 2014 and for the third time together with José Alberto Selmo, director of Unik Radio and Audiovisual Services Coordinator of INTEC will carry out this marathon radio, although for more than 12 years, the producers have been activists of the safe use of the internet doing this type of activity from other scenarios

El International Safe Internet Day It was first celebrated in the country in 2007 as an initiative of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL). Other State institutions such as the Ministry of Education and the Vice Presidency of the Republic through the CTC, as well as foundations and private organizations. They work to promote a healthy internet.

This year the event has the support of the Ministry of Education who since 2014 promoted through the Directorate of Educational Informatics the appropriate use of ICT impacting students nationwide.

During the activity different panels will be made based on cultural, political, social, education, art, music and more topics. Some of the invited personalities are Mite Nishio; José Armando Tavarez, rector of ITLA ;, Armando García Director of OPTIC, Erika Valenzuela, Rafael de los Santos (Poteleche), Jorge Pérez, of Moro Studio; Alf Álvarez of The Snack Report; Fabiola Herrera, Regent of INTEC; Osvaldo Larancuent, coordinator of the Cybersecurity career at INTEC, and Miguel Arias, coordinator of the master's degree in Cybersecurity at that university.

This year a panel on Digital Republic Education will be added based on the process of delivery and training of the “One to One” program, a project that is carried out by the Ministry of Education.

Safe Internet Day, “Safer Internet Day”(SID) is an event promoted by the INSAFE / INHOPE network with the support of the European Commission, held every February with the aim of promoting a safe and positive use of digital technologies, especially among children and young people. The SID / DID is celebrated on the second day of the second week of the second month of the year and brings together millions of people from all over the world to drive positive changes and raise awareness about Internet security, organizing different events and activities.
