INTEC will represent the Health and Social Protection sector before the CES

In the electoral assembly of the Social Sector on November 25, the new membership of the body was selected, as established by Law 142/15 and Regulation 291/20.

SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) was elected to represent the field of Health and Social Protection before the Social Sector of the Economic and Social Council (CES), during the electoral assembly of November 25, in which the representatives of the different sectors of the sector chose their new membership.

The selection took place with more than 60% of the votes present, made up of a participation of 28 organizations of the Social Sector, which weighed the application of the university, which highlights its traditional contributions in these areas and, in addition, the capacities of the Observatory of Social Security.

“In the health field, INTEC has a long and recognized track record of training ethical and capable professionals at the national and international level; Furthermore, for two years now, and under a Public Private Alliance, INTEC is the headquarters of the Social Security Observatory of the Dominican Republic (OSES), which generates valuable information for decision-making and the creation of public policies in this area ”, indicates the application document.

During the session, 10 of the 11 pending vacancies in the Social Sector were also filled, in which, in addition to the one completed by INTEC, there were spaces available for representatives in the areas of: Community Organizations (which was filled by COPADEBA) , Institutionality and Justice (whose selected was the Juan XXIII Center), Gender (CIPAF), Diverse Collectives (CODESSD and NGO Alliance), among others.

The CES is a consultative body of the Executive Power in economic, social and institutional matters, which has a constitutional character as contemplated in article 251 of the Magna Carta, and has the general function of knowing and issuing its opinion on problems of any nature that may be national interest. It was established by decree and is governed by Law 142-15.
