INTEC donates another 5 mechanical ventilators to the Dr. Ramón de Lara Hospital
With this second delivery, the ventilators delivered this year to that health center, one of the main hospitals in the country in the care of COVID-10 patients, amount to 19
SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) donated another five medical ventilators of those manufactured by its students, teachers and graduates to the Dr. Ramón de Lara Teaching Military Hospital, of the Dominican Republic Air Force, with the aim of contributing to increase the attention capacity of that center health care for COVID-19 patients.
With this delivery, the equipment donated to that health center so far this year amounts to ten, and nearly 300 the total number of ventilators donated by the university to the health system since the start of the pandemic.
The formal delivery of the equipment, carried out in the facilities of the hospital center, was led by the director of the hospital, Colonel José Richardson López; the Deputy Director, Omar Díaz Olivares and the Director of Diversified Businesses at INTEC and the Dra. Evangelina Rodríguez Primary Care Center, Jeannette Haché Campos.
Offering a few words of gratitude, the director of the Dr. Ramón de Lara Hospital expressed that he is proud that, at a time when the country is going through the difficult situation caused by COVID-19, a group of young people are concerned about looking for a solution and contribute to the country. On the subject, Haché stressed that INTEC fulfills its missionary objective by making the donation of equipment, in the sense of contributing to society. He said he hoped that this donation would help the center further expand its service and response capacity. He recognized the delivery of all the health personnel of the Dr. Ramón de Lara Hospital, one of the main ones of the national health system in the treatment of patients with COVID-19, which, since the beginning of the pandemic, has enabled an area that has been maintained serving in an exemplary and relentless manner to save the lives of thousands of Dominicans.

Information about Air INTEC
The Air INTEC fans were manufactured by a group of students, teachers, graduates and collaborators of the university, as a result of the patent released by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and to which improvements were applied so that it could be adapted to the market local. The automated Ambu type equipment (Airway Mask Bag Unit, in English) serves to provide intermediate assistance to patients with reduced lung capacity and has received recognition from various institutions, including the Technology-Based Innovation Award from the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology 2020.
The device, manufactured by a multidisciplinary team from INTEC, was classified as functional after two types of tests, the first, in a simulated and controlled manner in the INTEC Medical Simulation Laboratories and, the second, was carried out on humans in a medical center. Health.
The institutions that joined INTEC in the manufacture of mechanical fans are the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, AES Dominicana, the ministries of Public Health, Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) and the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Plásticos Multiform, Rockwell, FARCO, the Instituto de Formación Técnico Profesional (INFOTEP), JPIM, Machmaker, Mecaproject, TSM, ADERCA, Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Acrlicos DR and Tony Rodamientos, among others.
