Inposdom puts INTEC 50th anniversary commemorative postage stamp into circulation

SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) put into circulation a commemorative postage stamp 50 anniversary of the foundation of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), which is celebrated in this 2022.

Through Decree 49-22, the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader Corona, authorized the issuance of the postal stamp that was chosen through a contest conducted by the university in which professors, students, graduates and collaborators of that academy participated and in which the Engineering professor Omar Guerra Alfonzo was the winner.

During the act of presentation of the seal and delivery of the prize of the contest, Julio Sanchez Marinez, rector of INTEC, pointed out that the putting into circulation of the postal issue promoted the integration of the entire community around the historical milestone of the 50 years of the university, while allowing the dissemination of the culture of use of the mail and the use of the postage stamp as a means of dissemination and support of artistic expression. He assured that this stamp will remain as a symbol to remember this historical moment.

 

Erick Alberto Guzman, general director of Inposdom, affirmed that it is a privilege for him to begin his management at the head of that entity "heading this postal issue that recognizes 50 years of excellence in the formation of valuable men and women for Dominican society and the world."

Guzmán pointed out that half-century anniversaries are a propitious time to reflect on the past and future of that whose foundation is commemorated. "Fifty years are not fulfilled every day, they are worth celebrating and definitely in the case of an institution like the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) are worthy of admiration for the great commitment and the high degree of value with which they train and graduate each of the professionals that emanate from their classrooms”, he indicated.

The design of the selected vignette, entitled "The Great Beehive", was the proposal of Engineering Professor Omar Guerra ALfonzo and shows the Dominican Republic as a great Beehive, alluding to growth, multiplication and the presence of the Intecian spirit in everything. the country. The central image is made up of various hexagons and seeks to signify a country that has been built under the values ​​of INTEC.

321In the background we see a group of people who, from their professions and trades, are the ones who have built the Hive and represent the various sectors in which INTEC has had an impact. The frame, made up of 50 stars, symbolizes the success of each of the years that make up our history. 

The jury that had the responsibility of choosing the seal on their shoulders was made up of Altagracia López, former Rector of INTEC; Elsi Jiménez, Director of the INTEC Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library; Atala Lluberes, Director of Philately and Postal Culture of INPOSDOM; Alejandro Vignieri, President of the Dominican Philatelic Society and Member of the Official National Philatelic Commission; Aranzazu Toribio, Coordinator of the Industrial Design Career; Yahaira Brea, Director of Marketing and Promotion and Carmen Matos, Director of Institutional Communication and representative of the 50th Anniversary Committee.

Those interested in acquiring the commemorative postal issue of the 50th anniversary of INTEC should only go to the INPOSDOM headquarters, located on Héroes de Luperón street, corner of Rafael Damirón, in the Los Héroes Center. Each postage stamp has a cost of RD$50.
