Engineer Jordi Portet is sworn in as president of the Board of Regents of INTEC
The Executive Committee of the university's management body was also composed of the engineer Franco Gómez, vice-president, and of the graduate Fabiola Herrera, secretary, for the period 2019-2020
SANTO DOMINGO. The Jordi Portet engineer was sworn president from Board of Regents of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) for the period 2019-2020, during a session of the agency in which he also assumed as vice-president el civil engineer Franco Gómezy as a Secretary, the specialist in technological innovation Fabiola Herrera.
Portet replaces the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Luis Henry Molina, who retired from the position when he took office before that high court last April. The members of the Executive Committee were elected in May from when they took office.
Portet is an Industrial Engineer graduated from INTEC, with a Masters in Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has developed in the finance area of multinational companies in Argentina, Spain and the country. He is the Corporate Vice President of Finance of the SID Group, and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Sociedad Industrial Dominicana (SID). It is integrated to MERCASID and Grupo SID from 1995.
He is also Vice President of the executive office of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center (CRC) of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo.
As long as Franco Gómez, vice president of the Board of Regents, is ICivil Engineer graduated from INTEC, with PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2001), and a Master of Science with Concentration in Pavement Engineering and Engineering. It is currently the Technical Director of EPSA-LABCO. The Secretary of the Board of Regents, Fabiola Herrera, is degree in computer science of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), with specialized studies in Mathematics, Systems Analysis and Project Management. Serves as Deputy Manager of Systems and Technological Innovation of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.
The Board of Regents of INTEC is the governing body and legal representation of the university and is made up of 15 outstanding people of the national community and graduates of the university who, statutorily, constitute the majority. The educator Rosalina Perdomo is member of the organism; the doctor Jorge Marte Báez; the economists Guarocuya Féliz, Roberto Herrera and Rolando M. Guzmán, the latter in his capacity as Rector; banking executive José Manuel Santos; the lawyer Mary Fernandez and the businessmen Frank Rainieri, Sadala Valoy Khoury, Ricardo Pérez and Manuel Corripio.
The Board of Regents is periodically renewed and its members perform functions voluntarily and honorably. It is the legal administrator body of the institutional patrimony, which belongs to the Dominican society, as it is a private institution with a public purpose. It is responsible for the establishment of policies, supervision and administration of the development of the institution, approve and supervise the administration of the budget, suppress or approve study plans, award academic degrees, among others.
