Grupo SID and INTEC sign an agreement to create the Don Enrique Armenteros scholarship for a doctorate in Environmental Sciences

Santo Domingo. -As part of its commitment to education and the environment, Grupo SID and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) announced the creation of the Don Enrique Armenteros Scholarship, for the training of professionals through the Doctorate in Environmental Sciences.
Through a collaboration agreement, the entities honor the memory of Enrique Armenteros Rius, a Dominican businessman who was president for more than 30 years of the board of directors of Grupo SID, and whose career was characterized by the defense and preservation of natural resources of the Dominican Republic.
The signing ceremony, which took place in the Events Room of the Eduardo Latorre Postgraduate building at INTEC, was chaired by Jordi Portet, Corporate Vice President of Finance of Grupo SID and Julio Sánchez Maríñez, Rector of INTEC. In addition, it was attended by representatives of the Armenteros family, as well as authorities from both institutions.
Speaking a few words of welcome, Portet, who is also president of the Board of Regents of INTEC, stated “As part of its commitment to the well-being of Dominicans, Grupo SID seeks to sponsor initiatives that are always in favor of education and environment of our country. It is in this sense that we honor today Mr. Enrique Armenteros, who for many years was president of the Board of Directors of Grupo SID and whose legacy has left a great impact on Dominican society ”.
While the Rector of INTEC expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the alliance, which he said will promote knowledge and research in favor of the environment of the Dominican Republic, through the support of education at the highest level. Sánchez Maríñez welcomed that companies such as Grupo SID contribute to the sustainable development of the country, through the generation of trained human resources and with research capabilities.
The first recipient of the scholarship is Concepción Georgina Espinal Almonte, graduated in Bioanalysis, and graduated from a postgraduate degree in Environmental Education and a master's degree in Occupational Risk Prevention. The Scholarship awarded by Grupo SID and INTEC will allow Espinal Almonte to make contributions to Dominican society in environmental and natural resource aspects.
INTEC's doctorate in Environmental Sciences aims to train researchers, directors and managers of scientific processes and technological innovation at the highest level, both nationally and internationally, with the ability to develop research, prepare other professionals and direct processes in the field of environmental sciences.
