Specialists consider the script as raw material for audiovisuals

SANTO DOMINGO. - The raw material for making an audiovisual is the script, which will serve as the basis for the entire production team. Therefore, if a script has some kind of deficiency, this will be reflected in the production and the final product, which is why it is of the utmost importance that the scripts come out with the highest possible quality.

The statement was made by Violeta Lockhart, screenwriter and teacher of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), who understands that the training of scriptwriters must be comprehensive. “There must be a bit of everything, we definitely need the knowledge and the academy. I have always been an advocate and advocate for the importance of specialization, and the need to learn from those who have had previous experience and combine it with practice ”.

For his part, Frank Baiz Quevedo, writer and script consultant, affirms that, in recent years, with more emphasis in the last decade, both script development and writing and screenwriting training have become a fairly shared discipline internationally.

Baiz assures that “we are living in a time, reinforced by the pandemic, in which more and more screenwriters are needed. The growing demand is due to the fact that there are more formats, more cuts and more and more content is required. The current situation is one of irreversible and indispensable growth and even more so now that we are locked up watching stories; someone has to generate those stories. "

During the conversation “History is woven in the Caribbean that unites us”, Carried out by INTEC to present the new master's degree in Cinematographic Script, Rafael Lacau, coordinator of the program, pondered that it is not a guide on how to write a script, but rather that the participants will be able to understand the job of a writer, who must have extensive knowledge and supply your ideas from many points of view.

“We have conceived mastery in an integral way, which must encompass cultural spaces and also pragmatism towards the structures required by current markets, how a script should be written, what it should carry, how the scriptwriter should consider the viewer and, in that sense , do a comprehensive training ”, understands Lacau.

During the virtual activity, the engineer Arturo del Villar, academic vice-rector; Dalul Ordehi, and Irene Machado, dean and coordinator of the Postgraduate Level of the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities, respectively.
