Data science is an interdisciplinary field that deals with processes and systems to extract knowledge from data in different ways, structured or unstructured. It is a continuation and extension of some of the fields of data analysis, such as statistics, data extraction and predictive analysis, and knowledge discovery in databases (KDD).

  • Objectives

    The Master of Science in Data is aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge to develop predictive models, explore, prepare and analyze data (structured, unstructured and Big data), visualize their patterns, articulate and interpret their findings to contribute to the intelligence of public and private institutions.

  • Admission profile

    The program is aimed at professionals in the areas of engineering, computer science, economics, finance, business administration, mathematics and / or statistics.

  • Graduate Profile

    • Create valuable new use scenarios for large data sets of private companies and state organizations (Big Data);
    • Integrate modern software tools for Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Statistical Modeling to the complete cycle of data management.
    • Apply disciplined and creative methods to question and interpret the results.
    • Retrieve, organize, combine, prepare and store structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
    • Manage structured and unstructured data from multiple sources to provide solutions to complex problems in business, government institutions, and science.
    • Interpret behavioral patterns and make predictions from the application of analysis techniques and machine learning and data mining algorithms.
    • Design visualizations of those data patterns to effectively communicate the results.
    • Analysis of trends in the selected engineering, science or business area, to make predictions and extract useful knowledge that will be applied in business intelligence.
    • Mastery of current trends in Big data, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing.

  • Main and complementary area of ​​study

    The program is made up of four (4) modules or key knowledge areas and one (1) research and final project area, which make up an adequate program to obtain the knowledge and practices necessary for the participant's performance in applying to the professional life. These are:

    • Mathematics, statistics and computational models
    • Visualization, preparation and data mining
    • Business Intelligence and Big Data
    • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
    • Research and final project

    Title and certifications

    By meeting the credit requirements and established academic conditions, the participant will obtain the title of MAGISTER IN DATA SCIENCE. In addition, in the course of their studies they have options to obtain the following certifications:

    • MOOC educational platform for certification “Microdegree in Artifical Intelligence”
    • Training and certification in the SAS Viya Platform in DM and ML courses.

    • Hold a university degree with a minimum of 2.0 / 4.00 or 70 / 100

      • An academic recommendation letter issued by the university of origin or a job recommendation letter, in both cases must be on a sheet stamped and stamped by the issuing institution (only applicable for research-oriented master's degrees).  
      • Essay with motivations to enter the program, minimum 1 page (only applies for research-oriented masters).  
      • PAEP test payment (exonerated presenting the original Master's degree)

      • Member countries of the Hague Convention: If the country of emission belongs to the Hague Convention, it must make the apostille of the documents and their translations into Spanish in the competent institution of that country.
      • Countries that do NOT belong to the Hague Convention: If the country of issue is NOT within the Hague Convention, you must legalize the documents and their Spanish translations at the Dominican Consulate / Embassy of the country where they were issued and then by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Dominican Republic.
      • If the translation is done in the Dominican Republic, it must be done by a judicial interpreter and legalized in the Attorney General Office of the Dominican Republic.
