  • Objectives

    The main objective that guides the design of this Master's Program in Research Methodologies in Social Sciences is to train researchers with the necessary knowledge to consistently use the different theoretical approaches, methodological and analytical tools of social sciences, which allow significant contributions to the knowledge of the current Dominican society, providing quality information to solve problems and to guide decision making efficiently.     The graduates of this Master's Program will be endowed with a set of theoretical and practical knowledge that will allow them to conduct social research in the local and regional context with the necessary academic quality, to make a significant contribution in their respective disciplinary areas.

    Strengthen knowledge about the different research designs, the definition of information collection instruments and their subsequent analysis, which confer scientific rigor on social research.

    Develop the skills for managing academic databases, electronic information processing and scientific writing for publications in indexed journals.

    To create a community of knowledge, integrated by academic community, civil society and State, destined to the analysis and reflection on the most current problems of Dominican society and its local and regional contexts, which allows to maintain the links between the production of knowledge and its application in problem solving and policy design.

    The Master's Program in Research Methodologies in Social Sciences is aimed primarily at professionals in the disciplines of Social Sciences and Humanities; specifically, sociologists, psychologists, economists, marketers, demographers, educators, among others; whose fields of work demand the frequent use of the application of scientific research methodologies and techniques. Although other professionals from different areas of knowledge are not excluded, provided there is a willingness to dedicate the necessary time to combine classroom participation and field practices, or virtual activities.
