The Master of Science in Energy Efficiency seeks to train highly qualified professionals in tools for decision making in the efficient use of energy, with theoretical and practical competences in the field of energy technologies, allowing active participation in the generation of new knowledge or technological developments positively impacting sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.

  • Objectives

    • Train highly qualified human resources in the efficient use of energy, endowed with deep theoretical-practical knowledge and skills in the use of tools for decision-making in efficient energy management.
    • Promote interdisciplinary research that contributes to solving complex problems related to the efficient use of energy carriers (electrical, thermal, and power systems).
    • Develop capacities for innovation in the exercise of the profession of graduates.
    • Develop skills and abilities in teaching and mastering teaching-learning methods that adapt to the demands of the contemporary university.
    • Create capacities in the student body for the transfer of technology in the field of efficient energy technologies to the practical context, achieving impacts on sustainable development in a systematic and innovative way
  • Admission profile

    Graduates in Engineering careers: Mechanics, Electromechanics, Thermo-energy, Chemical Engineer, Industrial Engineer or Bachelor's degrees: Chemistry, Physics Degree, or in other careers with a postgraduate level in the knowledge area of ​​the program.

  • Graduate Profile

    The graduate of the Master's Program in Energy Efficiency will demonstrate the following skills:

    • Active participation in Research, Development and Innovation (R + D + i) and generation of new knowledge linked to increasing the efficiency of energy technologies and systems and reducing the impacts associated with the use of fossil fuels.
    • Develop management and / or direction of scientific research in the university, business or research centers, linked to the management of energy efficiency and emissions.
    • Reduce energy costs and environmental impact by creatively assuming the selection, exploitation, evaluation of energy equipment and technologies (generation, transport and use of energy), electrical, thermal and power systems.
    • Teaching, both in degree, as well as in specialty and masters.
    • Carry out management tasks for companies and projects related to renewable energy technologies and energy services.
    • Carry out energy audits and implement energy management systems.
  • Program structure

    The Master of Science program in Energy Efficiency generally assumes the face-to-face modality, however, the program assumes flexibility and interrelation between the different teaching modalities established in the INTEC Postgraduate Level Development Model. Some activities will take place in the semi-face-to-face or virtual mode.

      • An academic recommendation letter issued by the university of origin or a job recommendation letter, in both cases must be on a sheet stamped and stamped by the issuing institution (only applicable for research-oriented master's degrees).  
      • Essay with motivations to enter the program, minimum 1 page (only applies for research-oriented masters).

      • Member countries of the Hague Convention: If the country of emission belongs to the Hague Convention, it must make the apostille of the documents and their translations into Spanish in the competent institution of that country.
      • Countries that do NOT belong to the Hague Convention: If the country of issue is NOT within the Hague Convention, you must legalize the documents and their Spanish translations at the Dominican Consulate / Embassy of the country where they were issued and then by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Dominican Republic.
      • If the translation is done in the Dominican Republic, it must be done by a judicial interpreter and legalized in the Attorney General Office of the Dominican Republic.
