Some 750 teachers from the South conclude a diploma in Mathematics Teaching


The Center for Educational Studies of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), closed the second phase of the Diploma in Teaching Mathematics for teachers of the second cycle of Basic Education, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Education, through the National Institute of Teacher Training and Training (INAFOCAM).

Near 750 teachers and teachers of the Barahona Regional Education, San Juan de la Maguana and Azua concluded the training program that began in November 2012 with the main objective that teachers deepen in the most important mathematical content that they must teach, in the most relevant strategies and resources to guide the construction of mathematical knowledge, as well as in the organization of a school environment that promotes quality learning.


In the closing activity, the participants presented their most significant learning in the educational process to the educational community, through the presentation of innovative experiences in the teaching-learning of mathematics, theoretical-practical works, supported by updated approaches . They also reflected on the topics developed in the course, analyzed the main contributions of the training process and exhibited the learning resources developed during the program.
In addition to Saturday's face-to-face workshops, the methodology combines independent study strategies, group work, virtual forums and accompanying visits to the educational center at an 30% of participants. The face-to-face workshops were supported by 17 learning modules, specially developed for the diploma in numbering, measurements, geometry and statistics.


Participating municipalities

The closing events and final seminar will be held in the same venues where the training was conducted. 10 were organized in the following locations: Barahona, Cabral, Enriquillo, Pedernales, San Juan, Las Matas de Farfán, El Cercado, Azua, Baní and Padre Las Casas. The main activities, in which the authorities of INAFOCAM and INTEC will participate, will be held at the 2: 00 pm, at the La Union School of San Juan de la Maguana, at the Liceo Federico Henríquez and Carvajal de Barahona and at the Polytechnic Teresa Digna Feliz de Estrada.


The course started in 2012 and with this second phase, which ended in June of 2013, 1,360 teachers and teachers updated in the main mathematical contents that they must teach. With this contribution, INTEC reaffirms its commitment to contribute to improving the quality of life of the Dominican population, through its training programs, to strengthen the national education system.


The diploma is coordinated by the Center for Educational Studies (CEED) of INTEC, part of the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities.
