Universities address employment situation in the country
Santo Domingo. Representatives of the different member universities of the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU), participated last Friday 4 in the Colloquium University and Employment as part of the activities of the academies present at the International Book Fair, Dominican Republic 2012.
In the framework of the celebration of World Labor Day, the participants shared their experiences and practices to achieve the insertion of their term students and graduates in the labor market.
According to the information shared in the meeting, some of the most common practices are employment exchanges, units of relationships with graduates, which sometimes includes the job placement service; Job fairs for companies to capture curriculums and profiles and recruitment activities for companies on university campuses.
The colloquium also addressed situations such as the first job, the national situation in this regard, the assessment of work experience at the time that young people obtain a position.
José Agustin De Miguel, INTEC Planning Executive Director, as representative of the institution, stressed the importance that today's universities change and adapt to what societies are in need of. "We must prepare professionals in the areas that companies really demand, with values and willingness not only to grow, but also to contribute to the development of the Dominican Republic and the world," he stressed.
The academic institutions of higher education, for their work in knowledge, are increasingly placed as spaces for linking future generations with the labor market, as well as companies with talent.
The colloquium, held in the Sala Aída Bonelly de Díaz, of the National Theater, was open to the general public. The unviersidades members of the ADRU and represented in this meeting were:
