Three Dominican universities are trained in science, technology, innovation and science policy management


SANTO DOMINGO.- Staff from three universities in the Dominican Republic study the Master's in Science, Technology, Innovation and Scientific Policy, created through an agreement between the Ibero-American University Postgraduate Association (AUIP) and the University of Seville (Spain) with the Dominican institutions.

Officials of the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA), Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), as well as the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT), are trained with the objective of developing the professional competencies required for the understanding of the Science, Technology and Innovation System and Management of the production, use processes , appropriation and use of knowledge.

The program promotes the articulation of processes and actors in the academic, public and productive, regional, national and international spheres, and with the skills required for effective performance in both the public and private sectors.

The program, aimed especially at officials involved in the management of research and the subjects under study, is sponsored by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Business of the Junta de Andalucía.

The training is carried out with the collaboration of Dominican and Spanish experts, in blended mode until the 31 of July of 2016. The face-to-face training will be carried out in an itinerant way, in the different venues of the Dominican institutions; virtual teaching will be done through the teleformation platform of the University of Seville.

The program aims to provide those who complete it with the necessary skills to become qualified managers of public or private institutions that carry out scientific, technological and innovation activities.

The first round of this master's degree began in Colombia.
