E-health International Seminar: a Dominican and Dominican perspective
Santo Domingo. El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO), held the International Seminar E-Health: A Regional and Dominican Perspective. This activity is part of the regional E-Health proposal, formulated by PAHO / WHO, supported by the countries attending the 50th Directing Council of the Organization, including the Dominican Republic.
Regarding the scope of this seminar, emphasis is placed on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the field of health, in care and surveillance services based on international perspectives and experiences and demands. national.
The event featured a keynote address by David Novillo, PAHO / WHO Advisor on E-Health, who discussed the strategy and action plan for the Region of the Americas, approved by the ministers of health attending the 51 Council. Director of the Organization.
E-Health consists of the support that the cost-effective and safe use of information and communication technologies offers to health and related areas, including health care services, surveillance and health documentation , as well as education, knowledge and research in health.
Directors of hospitals across the country and other officials of the Ministry of Health participated in this event. The Ministry has shown great interest in the subject of e-Health, motivating its staff to use ICT in favor of health.
One of the presentations in this seminar refers to the management of ICTs in Health to improve Dominican health, highlighting the progress of a local program that is being carried out in Moca, at the Dr. Toribio Bencosme Hospital.
