Six INTEC students are finalists in the DiarioSalud 2025 Influential Personalities Award
SANTO DOMINGO. - Six members of the community of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) are finalists of the DiarioSalud Influential Personalities Award 2025, annual recognition with which the specialized media recognizes people and leaders within institutions of the health sector in 15 categories.
The INTEC students selected as finalists, from different areas of the health sector, are the orthopedic surgeon Miguel Robiou, dean of the Health Sciences Area, in the category Health Education, for his leadership in the CAAM-HP / INTEC International Reaccreditation and his contribution to the continuing education of healthcare personnel; the pediatric endocrinologist y Elbi Morla Báez, in the category Research and Development, by the project Anthropometric References of Dominican Children.
The list also includes three outstanding INTEC graduates.the infectious disease specialist Hector Balcácer, finalist in the category Health Communication and Social Networks, for his educational work and his fight against misinformation on health issues; the pediatrician José Breafinalist in Scientific Institutions or Societies, representing the Latin American Society of Vaccinology, for its impact on education and health policies, and the cardiologist Pedro Ureña Velásquez, finalist in the category Boards of Trustees and Management Companies, for her work at the Heart Care Dominicana Foundation in the prevention of and access to health services.
In category Science and Evidence at the Service of the Nation The graduate is nominated Andelys De La Rosa, who marked a milestone in 2025 by institutionalizing Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) in the Dominican Republic. Under his leadership, the country hosted the XXI Annual Meeting of the Ibero-American Cochrane Network, a historic congress that united academia with decision-makers to ensure that national clinical protocols meet the highest international scientific standards
