Secretary of the INTEC Board of Regents elected first president of Amchamdr
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Francesca Rainieri, was chosen as President of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) for the period 2025-2026, becoming the first woman in presiding over the entity in more than a century.
Francesca Rainieri, a renowned businesswoman in the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic and Administrative Vice President of the Punta Cana GroupShe holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Finance and Entrepreneurship and a minor in Economics from Babson College, USA. She has been a member of INTEC's Board of Regents since 2020.
Julio Sánchez Maríñez, rector of INTEC, said the university deeply values this milestone, which represents a firm step toward greater inclusion and leadership of women in the country's strategic decision-making spaces. "Francesca Rainieri's appointment is a testament to her commitment to sustainable development, innovation, and multisectoral integration," he said.
“At INTEC, we recognize his visionary leadership and are honored to have him actively participate as a member of our Board of Regents, our university's governing body. We are confident that his leadership will contribute to further strengthening ties between academia, the private sector, and the international community,” said Sánchez Maríñez.
During his inaugural address, Rainieri expressed that AMCHAMDR is part of his family and professional history: “Since I was born, my father was a member of the Board of Directors, and 40 years ago, he had the privilege of holding this same position that I assume today with great responsibility.He said.
The new president of AMCHAMDR highlighted her vision of strengthening the integration of other sectors in the value chain, “connecting industries, fostering collaboration, and generating a more dynamic and competitive ecosystem”He also noted that the current context provides a unique opportunity to strengthen economic, political, and social relations with the United States.
About the INTEC Board of Regents
The INTEC Board of Regents is the governing body, legal representative, and administrator of the university's assets. It is composed of 15 members, including the Rector, and is comprised of prominent figures in Dominican society who serve on a voluntary and honorary basis. By institutional mandate, the majority of the members are graduates of the institution.
