INTEC STEM Route brings educational experiences to pre-university classrooms


The school visit program arrived at Triumphare School with the first activity of the INTEC BHD STEM Route, an initiative that brings practical experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to high school students.

SANTO DOMINGO. Curiosity turned into action from the very first minutes. Fourth-year high school students from Triumphare College They participated in the most recent visit of the INTEC STEM Pathwaya program designed by the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) to bring educational experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to schools in different parts of the country, with the support of the business sector.

The event, organized by the Educational Studies Center (CEED INTEC) and the Directorate of Development, Institutional Relations and Alumni, marked the first activity of the STEM Route in collaboration with BHD Bank, sponsor of this second visit, and gave [MC1] continuation of a journey previously initiated with the support of the company EATON, allied with the early training of scientific and technological vocations.

During the activity, 41 students participated in interactive exercises that combined conversation, reflection, and creation. Beyond simply listening, they built and tested ideas and worked as a team, connecting STEM concepts to real-world situations.

For the student Camila Márquez The experience was different from the usual classroom routine. “This experience was very interactive and positive because it wasn't just about explaining; it also involved creating. These kinds of initiatives help us think more effectively about our future,” she said.

The world is now very much about technology,” she commented after the event.

The INTEC STEM Route is structured as a practical, motivational, and interactive educational experience, which includes discussions, team STEM challenges, and spaces for reflection, with the purpose of sparking interest in these areas and showing students the academic and professional opportunities they offer.

From an educational perspective, Silvia Del MonteThe school's educational psychologist praised the initiative's impact at this formative stage. "For me, it was very enriching, and above all, it's important that these kinds of activities can be done in secondary school so that students can learn about this topic in a broader and more experiential way," she noted.

For his part, the teacher Jeremy De León She emphasized the relevance of the approach in light of current technological changes. “It has been a very enriching experience for the students; they apply different concepts and are constantly learning about new technologies. With the development of artificial intelligence, it's good that they have people dedicated to teaching and guiding them on these topics so they can thrive in the future,” she stated.

INTEC STEM It is a university project that seeks to strengthen the teaching and learning of STEM disciplines through interactive activities, teacher training and high-impact events, promoting a culture of innovation and discovery in pre-university education.
