Rector of INTEC confirmed as board member of the Dominican Republic chapter of the World Energy Council


The World Energy Council is an organization that leads the global debate on energy, guiding ideas and driving action so that all people can access it sustainably and affordably.

SANTO DOMINGO. El Rector of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Arturo Del Villar, was confirmed as Member of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Republic chapter of the World Energy Council for the period 2025-2026.

The organization announced the composition of its Board of Directors last December, which is chaired by Nestor Contín, as president, and Manuel Lopez San Pablo as vice president, and made up of prestigious specialists in the national energy sector , the Augusto Bello, Francisco Caminero, George Reinoso, Aura Caraballo, Belkys E. Rodríguez, Ernesto Caamaño and Osvaldo González.

This is the UN-accredited energy sector entity and leading impartial network in the energy sector, which represents more than 3,000 public and private organizations in nearly 100 countries.

Arturo Del Villar is an academic leader and energy specialist with a solid track record in university management, technology consulting, and institutional development. He is an industrial engineer with an MBA in Corporate Finance, a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Development and International Economics, and specializations in International Business and Operations.

He was sworn in as Rector of INTEC for the period 2025-2028 last December and is the founder and CEO of an energy consulting firm with a regional presence, in addition to serving as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marriott International.

“As a member of the World Energy Council Dominican Republic, he contributes a vision of ethical leadership, innovation and excellence, reflecting his commitment to the sustainable advancement of the energy sector and higher education in the region,” the Dominican chapter of the World Energy Council said in reference to the appointment.

The rector of INTEC has been a member of the Dominican chapter of the World Energy Council since its formation in August 2017. The launch of the local organization took place on the INTEC campus and was attended by the then Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council, Christoph Frei, who delivered a keynote address. Del Villar was elected as an alternate member of that first board.

Meanwhile, the treasurer of the local chapter of the World Energy Council is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Electrical Engineering program at INTEC.

Osvaldo González, also a member of the local chapter of the World Energy Council since its inception, is an energy sector executive with over 20 years of experience in planning, business development, and operational management within the Dominican electricity industry. He is an electrical engineer with a Master's degree in Senior Management and a Master's degree in Electricity Sector Regulation. He currently serves as Deputy General Manager of the electricity generating company ITABO, SA.
