Rector of INTEC selected member of the ACSUG Advisory Council


Santiago de Compostela, Spain.- The rector of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Julio Sanchez Marinez, He was selected full member of the Advisory Council of the Agency for the Quality of the Galician University System (ACSUG), the body responsible for analyzing the activities of the accreditor and proposing actions that affect its continuous improvement.

Sánchez Maríñez participated in the regular meeting of the Advisory Board, as a member, during a visit to Spain this March.

The ASCUG Advisory Council is chaired by César Chaparro Gómez, former rector and academic emeritus for the University of Extremadura, and is also made up of academics from the University of Granada, University of Barcelona, University of Messina, Italy, Minho University, Portugal, and representatives of the professional sector, the business sector and students from Galician universities.

In the same way, the body participates, with voice and without vote, the executive director and technical secretary of ACSUG, Eduardo Lopez Pereira y Luis Carlos Velon.

La Agency for the Quality of the Galician University System (ACSUG) was founded in 2001 with the aim of ensuring the quality assurance of the Galician university system and influencing its continuous improvement.

ACSUG has been recognized by the  European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), a body of which the quality agencies of higher education in Europe are a part. Likewise, it is part of the European Register of Quality Agencies (EQAR), after this body verified that ACSUG carries out its activities in compliance with the Criteria and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

And, finally, it is also a member of the European Higher Education Accreditation Consortium (ACE), a body whose purpose is to establish mutual recognition of the accreditations carried out by the quality agencies that are members of the organization.

In addition to its evaluation tasks of higher education institutions in Galicia, ACSUG has extended them to universities in Latin America including Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
