INTEC's Dean of Health recognizes two Medicine graduates as "Influential Personalities Diario Salud 2025"
SANTO DOMINGO. – The dean of the Health Sciences Area of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Miguel Robiou, and the Outstanding Graduates of the Medicine career Pedro Ureña and Héctor Balcácer, were winners in the “Influential Personalities DiarioSalud 2025” awards, organized by the Diario Salud magazine.
In category Health EducationDr. Miguel Robiou was awarded for his key role in academic training and his leadership in the international reaccreditation of the INTEC Medicine program, the first in the country to receive this international endorsement.
Robiou, with more than 30 years as a professor in the medical program, is member of the Latin American Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, and other local and international organizations that group specialists in this field.
Meanwhile, in the category Boards of Trustees and Management CompaniesDr. Pedro Ureña Velásquez received the award for his work leading the Dominican Heart Care Foundation, where he promotes initiatives focused on cardiovascular prevention and access to healthcare services. The physician graduated from INTEC with Magna Cum Laude honors and was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate in 2007.
Also, in the category Health Communication and Social NetworksInfectious disease specialist Héctor Balcácer was awarded for his commitment to health education and his fight against misinformation, using digital platforms to guide the public. The doctor, who teaches at his alma mater, was recognized with the Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2021.
The award, organized by DiarioSalud, highlights each year professionals and institutions that contribute significantly to the well-being of the population, positioning these INTEC alumni among the most influential figures in the sector in 2025.
