They realize Seminar on Ecological Restoration


Santo Domingo.- Within the framework of the actions carried out by the USAID Program for Environmental Protection, in coordination with the Ministry of the Environment, through the Quisqueya Verde National Plan for the ecological restoration of micro-basins in the high mountains, a seminar was held on "Ecological Restoration".

Another objective of the workshop was for the participants to learn about the ecological restoration experiences in places like Mane Bay, United States, and analyze the possibility of replicating experiences like these, especially in the municipality of Jarabacoa.

The seminar was aimed at the management staff of the Environment Ministry, institutions of the natural resources sector, the academic community and conservationists

The activity, coordinated by the USAID Program for Environmental Protection, through its partners Intec, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and PRONATURA, was attended by international experts Dr. Dave Courtemanch and Dr. Jhon Sowles.

Among the topics addressed in the seminar are “Water Quality Standards. Its application and value in the management of Marine Aquatic Resources in Maine, United States "" Monitoring of Water Quality. Innovative Methodology used in Mine, United States ”,“ Actions for the restoration of aquatic systems. Principles and Practices in the Northwest United States ”and“ Taunton Bay. A new model of coastal management ”'.

The activity was attended by the Administrative Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Danneris Santanta, representing the Minister of the Environment, Dr. Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, Mr. Duty Greene, USAID's Economic Policy Advisor, Eng. Indhira de Jesús, Director of the Environmental Protection Program, and Dr. José Contreras, Manager of the Environmental Protection Program.
