They carry out the First Student Research Competition
SANTO DOMINGO.- The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) through the Vice-Rector's Office for Research and Linking organized the First Student Research Competition, in which a total of 16 investigations carried out by students with the advice of their teachers participated.
The deserving studies of the first and second place, respectively, were "Incidence of nosocomial infections in patients admitted to the Pediatric Burns Unit of a children's hospital" of the medical student Débora Mari Menieur Núñez e "Influence of the group pressure in the visual perception in students with dominant-submissive personality traits ", by psychology students José Matos, Moise Regis, Yusbelky Núñez and Moisés Díaz.
The first-place winning student received an iPad, as well as a 50 scholarship% of the credits and a quarter's enrollment, while the principal investigator of the second award-winning research won an 5C iPhone, as well as an 35 scholarship % of the credits of a quarter for the whole team.
During the award ceremony, the director of INTEC Rolando M. Guzmán stressed that the objective of the competition is to encourage research in students and highlight its importance within the academic program.
In this sense, the rector emphasized that the organization of the Student Research Competition is part of the historical tradition of INTEC to promote scientific research, an aspect that it has supported the university as one of its pillars since its foundation 41 ago .
The ceremony was also headed by Andrea Paz, executive director of Research; Anne Sophie Tejeda, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation; the Director of Provision of Services, Ailin Lockward and Dr. Héctor Rodríguez, who formed the selection jury.
Dr. Rodríguez presented the conference "The country needs scientists and researchers", in which he spoke about the obstacles that different Dominican researchers have overcome to develop their research, the importance of research and the diversity of topics that can become objects of study.
