Rafael Toribio appointed president of the CES


SANTO SUNDAY. -Rafael Damares Toribio Dominguez, past rector of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), was designated by President Luis Abinader as president of the plenary session of the Economic and Social Council (CES) through decree 393-20.

Toribio assumes the presidency of the entity, replacing Monsignor Agripino Núñez Collado, who had held it since 2005. The mission of the CES is the construction and permanent strengthening of social peace through frank, open and participatory dialogue.

Toribio's management as rector of INTEC ended in 2001, and in that position he was president of the Dominican Association of University Rectors at different times. At the university he was also director of the Center for Government, Business and Society (CEGES) and coordinator of the INTEC Dialogue for Action (DAY). He has also been an analyst and commentator on the show ONE + ONE of Teleantillas.

He studied Social Sciences at the León XIII Social Institute of the University of Salamanca, Madrid (Spain) and is a graduate of the Complutense University of Madrid, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Specialization in Latin American Studies in 1971.

The vision of the CES is to be the constitutional body for the promotion of social consensus through the active participation of the representative, legitimate and supportive economic and social leadership of the productive forces of the Dominican Republic.
