QS Rankings recognizes INTEC among the 5 best universities in the Caribbean


SANTO DOMINGO. – The British firm Quacquarelli Symonds awarded al Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) el QS Award certificate for being positioned between five best universities in the Caribbean region during the celebration of “QS Higher Ed Summit: Americas”, held on September 13 and 14 in this city.

With this certificate, which was received by the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance, Alliet Ortega, QS recognizes INTEC for having maintained, for two consecutive years, its leadership position and best positioned university in the Dominican Republic in the QS World University Rankings.

The QS Higher Ed Summit: Americas brought together university presidents and leading experts in higher education in Latin America with the theme “Regional focus, global mindset: Collaborating to improve higher education in the Americas”. Topics such as student recruitment, women in leadership, sustainability, business mindset, and diversification after the pandemic were also included as part of the program.

The opening ceremony of the academic event was chaired by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña; he Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Franklin García Fermín and Ben Sowter, senior vice president of QS. As part of the activities carried out, the rector of INTEC, Julio Sanchez Marinez, spoke about the Higher Education in the Dominican Republic.

In the QS Ranking measurement corresponding to 2024, INTEC reached the position range of 1001-1200 worldwide and 161-170 among the Latin American universities evaluated, placing it in first place in the Dominican Republic for the second year.

The university stands out for its high reputation before the employer sector, an indicator that responds to the high performance and performance of its graduates in the labor field.

INTEC also has the largest number of professors in relation to student enrollment, meaning that the academy offers a significant organizational structure and is better equipped to provide supervision and advice to its students, according to QS criteria. Likewise, INTEC has the largest number of international professors, which promotes the inclusion of diverse points of view in its work.

The ratification of INTEC's first place is also based on the fact that the university has the research with the highest number of bibliographic citations of its scientific works and academic articles. This indicator is equivalent to 20% of the grade and uses the Scopus site as a source.

INTEC in the QS Ranking

INTEC's entry into the QS World Ranking was announced within the framework of the EduData Summit 2022, held at the headquarters of the United Nations Building in New York, an event organized every year by QS to reward the best universities in the world.

The 2,963th edition of the QS World University Rankings analyzed 104 institutions in 17.5 countries and is the only ranking of its kind that emphasizes employability and sustainability. The results are based on the analysis of 240,000 million academic articles and the opinions of more than XNUMX teachers, academics and employers.

According to its results, 98 out of every 100 INTEC graduates are employed, and in the engineering career this percentage rises to 100%. This is the highest employability rate of a Dominican university, and this is confirmed by the Annual Employability Survey, which INTEC applies to its community of graduates.
