INTEC psychologist wins first place nationally in International Certification in Emergency and Disaster Psychology


Yaniry Núñez, a psychotherapist at the Center for Psychosocial Care (CAPS), achieved the highest rating in the Dominican Republic in AMPE's specialized program on crisis intervention, loss, and disasters.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic. – The psychologist Yaniry Núñez, professional of Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and a member of the teaching team of the Social Sciences and Humanities Area of ​​the university, obtained the first place nationally in the International Certification in Emergency and Disaster Psychology: Intervention and Post-Intervention in Crisis Situations, Losses and Catastrophes – 2025achieving an outstanding average of 17.78 points.

The World Association of Emergency Psychology (AMPE)organizers of International certificationThey extended their congratulations to Núñez for his outstanding participation and academic performance, highlighting his commitment and vocation for professional support in crisis and disaster situations.

“Her outstanding performance reflects her commitment, discipline, and vocation for Emergency Psychology, a field that requires human sensitivity, technical preparation, and a deep sense of service,” The institutional statement highlighted this. Furthermore, the academic team valued their dedication to strengthening mental health response capacities and community resilience in emergencies.

“I am very grateful to see the results of the effort and dedication we put into this training, which has come to further enrich our knowledge and experience in Crisis and Trauma interventions through AMPE – Dominican Republic, and thus, continue supporting, with empathy and preparation, Dominican families in the face of adverse situations,” said Núñez.

Julio Valeirón, CAPS coordinatorShe affirmed that willingness and service are two values ​​that define her. “Ms. Núñez has been performing extraordinary work at the Psychosocial Care Center since she joined as a Crisis Intervention Specialist, both in consultations and through her active participation in the workshops we have developed on Mental Health, Leadership, Well-being and Climate, as well as in the induction processes for new employees,” she stated. 

At the same time, Martha Rodríguez Wagner, coordinator of the program Psychology A colleague of the specialist praised Núñez's professional and human qualities. "Yaniry is a person of integrity, with high professional capabilities and a deep ethical sense that she demonstrates in her personal interactions and work performance."

INTEC recognized this achievement as an important contribution to strengthening the teaching staff and the quality of psychological services at CPAS, aligned with the institutional mission of promoting well-being, applied research, and specialized training for the development of the country.
