USAID Program for Environmental Protection delivers consulting results to RENAEPA

The final results of the consultancy for the Institutional Strengthening of the National Business Support Network for Environmental Protection (RENAEPA) conducted through the USAID Program for Environmental Protection (USAID-PPA) were delivered to the president of that entity, Roberto Herrera, by the rector of INTEC, Miguel J. Escala.

The USAID Program for Environmental Protection (USAID-PPA) is executed by The Nature Conservancy and INTEC thanks to the financial support of the people of the United States through the United States Agency for Development (USAID). The program emphasizes support for the Secretary of State for the Environment and Natural Resources so that it complies with the commitments assumed by the country under the 17 chapter of DR-CAFTA.

In addition to the delivery of the results of the consultancy, Marialicia Urbaneja, Executive Director of RENAEPA, Ing. Indhira de Jesús, Director of the PPA, Doctor José Contreras, Program Manager, Eng. Rosaura Pimentel, Cleaner Production Coordinator of the PPA and Mariely Ponciano, who was in charge of the Consultancy.

The main objective of this consultancy was to carry out a diagnosis of needs in the RENAEPA North, East, South and Coaición Río Haina subsidiaries, as well as to design and execute an operational plan to improve their integration into the Network and boost their performance, through the incorporation of the results of the diagnosis.

Other products delivered to RENAEPA-fruits of the consultancy-were a Needs Assessment of the North, South, East and the Haina River Coalition, a Work Plan for a year in the North, South, East and Coaition Rio Haina branches and the Budget of activities for one year.

The Environmental Protection Program has identified RENAEPA as a key institution to support the objectives of the Program in terms of promoting improvement in the environmental performance of the private sector, hence the interest in supporting its institutional strengthening.
