Professor Elbi Morla Báez receives the National Medicine Award


SANTO DOMINGO. - The pediatrician, writer and researcher Elbi Morla Báez, research professor of the Area of ​​Health Sciences of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and editor of the academic journal Science and Health, from that university, received the National Medicine Award of the Dominican Republic 2021.

The award was presented during a ceremony held in the auditorium of the Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital, before an audience of local specialists and researchers.

The president, ideologue and founder of the Prize, Sergio R. Solis Tavera, stressed that in these 25 years Morla Báez has sown the seeds of study, exercise, teaching, research, publications and social work in the country's health class, raising the self-esteem of men and women in health.

He explained that thousands of children from all social strata, basically the most humble, “have found in Dr. Morla Báez, a refuge to calm their pain, mitigate its impacts and win the war against diseases, many of those incapacitating and even fatal ”.

He pointed out that the act is a tribute to the solemnity and respect for the exemplary medical career of the INTEC professor as a researcher, professor of medical specialists in the area of ​​pediatrics, through a solid structure of scientific teaching, with a mission that It has carried for years.

Dr. Elbi Morla Báez said that the true deserving of this award are their parents, both deceased, who taught them ethical and moral behavior, as well as their family members, teachers and co-workers, who he said played a fundamental role for the development of your life.

Morla Báez, featured pediatric endocrinologistHe is also a member of the Education Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic (ACRD) and was president of the Dominican Association of Pediatric Research. In addition, he has served as a scientific researcher in the titular category of the National Race of Researchers of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. 

Likewise, he is a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society, Endocrine Society and the International Society Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes, also of the Latin American Society of Pediatric Endocrinology, of the Dominican Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and of the Dominican Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition, and of the Colegio Dominican Physician.

In the activity received a certificate of honor, the Ney Arias Lora Traumatological Hospital and doctors Alejandro Pichardo Pantaleón and Milena Cabrera, obstetrician-gynecologist and pediatrician, respectively, the latter Number Members of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic.

In addition, distinguished doctors of the society, Felipe Román, Eddy Pérez Then, Julio Landrón, Carlos Ramírez Suero, Bautista Javier and Rafael Vásquez García were declared.
