Professor of Social Communication and Digital Media appointed as evaluator of two prestigious Spanish scientific journals

Santiago Gallur Santorun was named as evaluator of "Studies on the Journalistic Message" and "Latin Magazine of Social Communication"

SANTO DOMINGO. - The full teacher from Bachelor's degree in Social Communication and Digital Media of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), doctor Santiago Gallur Santorun was named as well as in evaluator of two prestigious Spanish scientific journals: "Studies on the Journalistic Message", from the Complutense University of Madrid, and "Latin Magazine of Social Communication", linked for many years to the University of La Laguna.

Gallur Santorun, who received the appointments in recognition of his prolific intellectual production, has a PhD in History from the University of Santiago de Compostela, in 2011, and in Social Communication, from the University of Santiago de Compostela, in 2017, is a researcher of Spanish origin. , has taught and lectured internationally in Mexico and Spain since 2012, also participating as a speaker and speaker at more than 20 international conferences and seminars.

His presentations have been on communication and gender, violence, femicide, as well as the different forms of information production in the digital context. He has published around 13 articles in high-impact international peer-reviewed scientific journals, 12 in indexed journals, five online books with ISBN, one printed book with ISBN, nine chapters of books with ISBN, 22 Extensive Proceedings with ISBN and has presented 32 papers at international conferences. His work has been cited 68 times internationally and his H index on Google Scholar is 5.

Professor SantiagoProfessor Gallur Santorun has been recognized as a researcher in Mexico, having been part of its National System of Researchers (SNI) for seven years with the categories of SNI Candidate and SNI 1. He also has the recognition of the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ANECA), from Spain, which is in charge of accrediting teaching and research work at a higher level, as a professor at a private university, a contracted professor, doctor and assistant professor.

In turn, he has the accreditation of Qualified Teacher Status, granted by the Ministries of Education of England and Wales, which accredit him as a recognized teacher for secondary education in public and private schools in both countries.

Beyond his two doctorates, Gallur Santorun is a senior technician in artistic photography (Maestro Mateo School of Arts, 2003), a degree in Journalism from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2008), has a postgraduate degree in education with a specialization in didactics of the history called Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude (CAP, University of Santiago, 2009), a Master in Contemporary History (USC, 2009), in addition to the Master's degree in Journalism by correspondence with the studies of the European Qualifications Framework (2017) awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain.

Currently, this social scientist is developing research at INTEC on the dissemination in the digital environment of news about femicide in the Dominican Republic, as well as the study of clickbait at an international level or gender stereotypes in the Latin American media and Europeans. He teaches INTEC classes on Communication Theories, Public Opinion and Journalistic Ethics.

Some of his latest scientific articles are: “The use of clickbait in online media in the 28 countries of the European Union”, published in 2017 by the Latin Journal of Social Communication; "The presence of women in the information of European online media in Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Portugal and France", published in 2019 and also in the Latin Journal of Social Communication, and "The use of sources as a production strategy news in a gender news agency: The case of CIMAC ”, published at the end of 2019 in the magazine Estudios sobre la Periodístico Message.
