Professionals and technicians from the national plastics industry conclude training on sustainability

Fifty new professionals and technicians linked to the national plastics industry completed the course "Introduction to life cycle analysis applied to plastic products", an initiative carried out as part of the triple helix alliance between the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM), the Dominican Association of the Plastic Industry (ADIPLAST) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).

The training was given through the Plastic Training and Research Center (CCIP) with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the plastic industrial sector through sustainable production practices.

The delivery of the certificates of participation was led by the Vice Minister of Industrial Development of the MICM, Fantino Polanco; the executive director of ADIPLAST, Emil Attias, and the dean of the INTEC Engineering Area, Cayetano Rodríguez.

At the closing of the course, which was given by the expert Alexander Hernández, from the Plastic and Rubber Training and Research Institute (ICIPC) of Colombia, Vice Minister Polanco expressed the great satisfaction of the MICM for the progress achieved through this triple helix alliance created between the State, the Academy and the industry. Likewise, he added that the CCIP is working on the construction of a laboratory designed to carry out practical training and that, in the long term, carry out tests with plastic materials.

The course "Introduction to Life Cycle Analysis applied to plastic products" was taught at INTEC and addressed key aspects of the Life Cycle Analysis methodology for products and processes in the sector.

The training lasted eight hours and is the second given at the CCIP to representatives of the national plastics industry. The first, "Families of polymers: Uses, applications and challenges for recycling", was held in March, from which 55 participants graduated, adding a total of 105 professionals trained within the framework of this specialized training program aimed at this sector.

El Plastic Training and Research Center (CCIP) was created in the country within the framework of the interest of the MICM in strengthening the human capital of the industries of the important plastic sector, as well as the teaching team of INTEC through training, training, research and innovation actions to promote the sustainable production and competitiveness.

The strategic alliance between MICM, ADIPLAST and INTEC proposes that the CCIP develop training programs on sustainability in the plastic sector.
