President of Grupo Corripio lectures on INTEC on business diversification strategies
Santo Domingo.- "All businesses are different. The most successful must always support the weakest, only in this way is the success of diversified companies guaranteed in the midst of the crisis. " This is how the businessman José Luis (Pepín) Corripio referred to when sharing his experiences with students, professors and representatives of the national business sector during the keynote address "Corripio Group: Diversification Strategies", who did the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).
Recognized for his success as president of one of the largest emporiums in the Dominican Republic, Corripio was invited as part of the program Strategy and Innovation in Business of the academic area that groups the careers of Accounting, Marketing, Economics and Business Administration.
For more than four decades the Corripio Group has grown to have investments in the industrial sector, export, retail, banking, free zones and media, among others. He started with a small family business at the beginning of the 60 decade, focused on the commercialization of household appliances and toys. Since then, brands and other types of products have been gradually added.
The commercial development and the importance that this commercial network has reached up to now, make this company a benchmark in the Dominican business sector.
In his presentation, Pepín advised future entrepreneurs that, when making a decision, the best is not always the right thing to do, since the best of today is not necessarily the best of tomorrow. In the same way, he listed the aspects to take into consideration to be successful and competent leaders in the current market, among them were:

Count on loyal and hard-working people.

Do not think that the business is business, see it more as an essential part of oneself, of our growth and projection as people.

Do not be seduced by predictions from "experts". The only valid forecast is our daily work.

Take into account that own businesses are absorbing. He who is not willing to sacrifice, who does not take the risk, will be destined to fail.

Last but not least, it should be known that weak competitors are not destroyed. The reason is simple: your place is always taken by a strong competitor.
Some of the companies belonging to the Corripio group are the television channels Telesistema, Teleantillas and Coral; Hoy, El Nacional and El Día newspapers, as well as part of Listín Diario; stores such as El Mundo del Juguete, Yanes y Piruleta; Tropical, Popular, King and Domastur paintings, as well as Conservisa, through which the Burger King, Papa John's and Palacio del Cine franchises are managed, among others.
Diómedes Christopher, INTEC business dean said the program Strategy and Innovation in Business It allows Dominican business leaders to share their experience with the new generations of university professionals.
Exhibitors of this program have been Luis Molina Achécar, president of the BHD Group; Rafael Menicucci, president of the Dominican National Brewery; Frank Rainieri, president of Grupo Punta Cana, Jean Marc Harion, President of Orange Dominicana and Mercedes Ramos, president of Grupo Ramos.
The words of welcome for the event were offered by Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice-Rector, on behalf of the Rector, Miguel Escala. The vice-rector for Research and Liaison Julio Sánchez Maríñez, professors, students and INTEC officials, representatives of the business sector, friends and members of the Corripio family also participated. It was broadcast simultaneously, in closed circuit in the García De La Concha Auditorium and in the Teleconference Room of the university.
